Starting Situation
The technical factory in Ludwigshafen operates a district heating plant in which electrical energy and district
heating is generated with a gas turbine having a waste heat boiler, several medium and peak load boilers,
several steam turbines and in which the high pressure steam heating from the neighboring waste cogenera-
tion plant is integrated. The intention of the operating manual was the documentation of the organization,
responsibilities and processes in conjunction with the operation of the heat and power plant. The contents
of the operating manual was worked out with the customer in a number of meetings and after consideration
of the existing manual

The operating manual is divided into two chapters:
General Operating Manual
Technical Operating Manual

In the general operating manual, the organizational structure of the heat and power plant is depicted; all
tasks and responsibilities and employee capacities as well as organizational steps in view of all operation
processes, documentation and information obligations are illustrated. The technical operating manual
includes mainly the descriptions of the systems, the system wiring diagrams and their explanation.

Results
The EDP supported operating manual serves as a practical index for the user and has proven to be especi-
ally user oriented through its clear structure, with tables and key word index and ability to be updated easily.
