Starting Situation
The three local industrial companies FAG Kugelfischer Georg Schäfer KGaA, Fichtel & Sachs AG and SKF
GmbH and the city of Schweinfurt were forced to replace various older heating plants and cogeneration
plants which in part could no longer qualify for operation authorization. This situation led to the idea of
constructing a joint-venture power generating plant. Industry and community joined together in order to
guarantee the district heating supplying of the industry and city and for the generating of electricity.

Results
A new coal firing cogeneration plant was built with an attached system for the thermal utilization of waste
refuse which can be supplied the entire year through the district heat ground load. The emission from the
power plant is controlled regularly for harmful pollutants. High-technology in conjunction with an integrated
multiple redundant steering and control technology along with a qualified operations team guarantee a
trouble-free and low-emission power plant operation.
