Starting Situation
FAG Kugelfischer decided to implement in 1995 an environment management system as outlined by the EU
Ecology Audit ordinances. First of all, ECH was contracted for undertaking the first environment audit at the
Eltmann location of the FAG Komponenten AG. Major points of the audit included the examination whether
the company is operating in accordance with environmental regulations and ordinances prescribed by law - a
written assessment of the actual environmental situation, giving material and energy balances - evaluation of
the organization of the operational environmental protection in view of the requirements stipulated in the
EU Ecology Audit. The results were compiled and illustrated in an environmental report. Based on the results, the weak areas were analyzed and measures for improvement of the environment situation were established. During the years 1995 -1998, ECH carried out audits at the other Kugelfischer productions sites: FAG OEM und Handel AG in Wuppertal and in Elfershausen; and the sites in Schweinfurt which include FAG OEM und Handel AG, FAG Komponenten AG, FAG Aircraft GmbH, FAG Automobiltechnik AG, FAG Personaldienste und Service GmbH.

Results
All of the FAG Kugelfischer companies have been in the meantime successfully validated.
