Summary
From a disused strip mine, which has functioned since 1976
as a waste dump where 15 Mio. tons of waste
have been collected, the waste dump gas is to be utilized; waste gas is
sucked out, compressed and used
by gas engines for the production of power and, to a small degree, heat.
The
dump collects an annual
amount of 600,000 tons. The annual power generation is approximately 8,5
Mio. kWh. The electricity is fed
into the local network. Waste gas which has too low a methane content
is directed into a flare system and
burned at 1,200°C.
