Situation
A three-stage power supply network makes sure that the
Munich Airport is efficiently supplied with electric
current for the navigation lights for take-off and landing, for naviga-tion,
communication and meteorological
services, for the automatic landing aids and for the passenger counter
and freight dispatch areas.
The airport is supplied with power from the 110 kV public network by means
of two 110/20 kV transformers,
each having a nominal capacity of 40 MW. Parallel to this, from the airport's
own block heat and power
station, with 11MW own electricity, almost 50% of the peak power load
is supplied into the 20 kV airport
network.
Result
Three independent power supply networks assure a safe supplying:
The 20 kV standard network supplies electric current, which
is drawn solely from the public network, for all
consumers who are not in need of emergency power supply.
In case of breakdown or failure, the consumers in the 20 kV emergency
power supply network will continue
to be supplied, within 15 seconds time, with electricity from the block
heat and power station. The main areas
of coverage include the passenger dis-patch area and parts of the administration
and operation center.
In case of breakdown or failure of the public network, the consumers in
the 20 kV quick replacement network will continue to be supplied, within 1 second time, with electricity from
the block heat and power station. The
main areas of coverage here include the facilities of the landing and
ramp area lighting, navigation, communication and meteoro-logical services as well as automatic landing aids.
