Starting Situation
The Association of Northern Germany Housing Companies is comprised of 289 member companies from the
federal states: Hamburg, Schleswig-Holstein and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The project goal was to achieve
a significant reduction in cost for general electricity for the associated company members; and to offer a cost
attractive supplying of domestic electricity. This took place during a time when competition around the
domestic customer had not yet begun. The volume of the general electricity is approximately 250 Mio. kWh;
of domestic electricity, over 2 billion kWh.

Result
Within the guidelines of a partnership with a supply company, favorable conditions for general electricity and
domestic electricity were negotiated in all three federal states. The idea of partnership and what it stands for
is practiced in joint promotion measures taken by the member companies and the suppliers and is evident in
the information which is passed on by the members to their tenants.
