Starting Situation
The area planned for building is the region located in the northwest of Frankfurt called "Am Riedberg", 8 km
away from the center of the town. Located at the region's southern border are the bio center and chemical
institute of the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University. The entire area in the building plan totals 260 ha and
includes land for residential areas, small scale industrialists and extensive expansions of the university.
The building was to be carried out in accordance with the newly passed ordinance for energy savings (EnEV).
A district heating pipeline and a high-pressure gas pipeline were available.
